Twins game

Karin and John with Minnesota Twins mascot, T.C. at the Twins game on Saturday. Karin and Tim's business, AFM Countertops, invited John and Connie (Connie couldn't make it), Paul and Wendy, and David and Delores to enjoy a game in box seats. The night out was sponsored by Cambria Natural Quartz Surfaces. We all had a great time.

Nikolaj Comes to Philadelphia

Nikolaj was in Philly for an activity-packed 2 days, here's the pictorial version of the story:

Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA, home of the "greatest orchid collection, in bloom" that Nikolaj has ever seen.

Mike and Nikolaj Wii boxing.

Sharing hats with George Washington at the National Constitution Center.

Introduced to Phillies tailgating, Nikolaj helped Mike with a flurry of late game scoring in a dramatic Washers comeback win.

Picture from the game. In the best interest of everyone who will see these pictures...I left out the shot of Nikolaj's enthusiastic participation in "dollar [hot]dog night." The mustard became out of hand.

Hope you enjoy the pics. Sorry we couldn't be there for Nico's wedding. Congratulations! The event looked great!

Bike tour

Last Sunday morning Paul, Wendy, Delores and David went on a 30-mile bike tour in Lakeville. The best part? Going down hills and the free and plentiful snacks at the two rest stops. Worst part? Going uphill and wind.

Agnes article

Agnes is featured in the Sunday, March 16, 2008 edition of the Jyllands-Posten newspaper.

The headline reads:

98-year old too healthy for the retirement home

The subhead:

Agnes Møller has just moved into an accessible apartment of her own because she was too mobile for the nursing home.

The pull-quotes say:

"Now, I live for my children, grand- and great-grandchildren. And as long as they behave well I can be nothing but satisfied."

"It is important to have something to get up to do every day. You need to continue to set yourself new goals."

Click on the small newspaper to see a larger view of the page.

Thank you to Hans for sending the scan of the newspaper -- and for the translations!

Hans notes that there was also a television story about Agnes! Here are some photos from that story. You can click this link to watch on the television station's Web site.

Random Amsterdam

A very few of the fun things we saw in Amsterdam. Here's a mailman. With his official bike.

And three examples of graffiti -- done in mosaic tiles! Now that's graffiti that will stand the test of time!

David's a sucker for big letters, and here are some that spell out Amsterdam's current marketing slogan, "I amsterdam." David would have done the word spacing a little tighter, but that's neither here nor there.

A bit more of Copenhagen

The Danish train system has its own typeface. Who cares? David.

Copenhagen public libraries were very nice to David and Delores -- who took advantage of the free Internet access to keep in touch with everyone while traveling.

Nikolaj explains about the four residences as the Queen's guards -- with their own marching band -- go about their business.

A close-up view of the rent-a-bikes David and Delores rode in town. Helpfully, they are in "We're tourists" red, so the other bike riders could be warned of D+D's wobbly riding abilities.

Nikolaj keeps his piano in his basement storage locker (with the approval of the building's council). He played and sang for D+D. Wonderful!

Nikolaj made sure David and Delores made it to their train on time, very early in the morning. Here he is walking them to the station. He's got some kind of nifty reflectors on his bike tires.

And it's goodbye to Copenhagen. Thank you, Nikolaj!
